Longest Range Folding Electric Bikes: 40+ Mile E-Bikes

The Fiido L3 is dubbed ‘the one that endures’, and claims to be the longest lasting e-bike under $1,000. It has an incredible 125 miles (200km) range with pedal-assist and 80 miles (128km) with throttle, and is powered by a 350W brushless geared motor which makes climbing a breeze.

This bike looks great too, with a clean, neat frame design, and is adjustable to suit riders of almost every height.

With a range of 100 miles, the Lectric XPremium is a folding e-bike that will withstand the biggest of adventures. Its long range is accommodated by a dual battery system, and despite being a folding bike, this is a great one for countryside riding on rougher terrain thanks to its 80mm front suspension fork, fat tyres, and mid-drive motor for intuitive power delivery.

The Lectric XPremium also has a rear rack which holds up to 55lbs, 160mm hydraulic disc brakes, a backlit LCD display to show battery power and trip details, and even an external charging port on the top tube so you can charge the bike without removing the battery.

While the Tern Vektron S10 doesn’t go quite as far as the two bikes above it in this list, it certainly still packs a punch – and a 62-mile range is nothing to turn your nose up at.

This e-bike’s reclining battery gives it a lower center of gravity for a better ride, and it folds down compactly to fit easily on public transport while still being a comfortable size for riding. The new model has upgraded to the Bosch Performance electric drivetrain for 300% more assistance and 65 Nm of torque, its hydraulic disc brakes have excellent stopping power, and there’s also a sturdy bike rack and control panel for a premium ride.

The Mate City folding e-bike boasts a slightly above average range, but even in the world’s largest cities, 50 miles of battery capability can get you a long way.

This is a great looking bike, if you don’t mind the huge logo on the side of the frame, with smooth welds that make it look like it’s been cast out of a single piece of metal. It has a full suspension system for comfort on all terrains, quality disc brakes, and durable all-round tyres that are set to handle whatever your ride throws at them.

The Mate City also has an easy three-step folding system, perfect for riders who need to collapse their bike quickly and efficiently.

Ah, there it is – the Brompton. We’d be remiss not to mention this iconic folding bike brand, particularly when they have an e-bike which does a respectable 45 miles on a single charge.

The Brompton Electric C-Line is an all-steel bike with a 250W motor and fine-tuned sensor, and comes in a really wide range of colours. It has the classic Brompton look and a choice of mid or high handlebars depending on preference, and it’s lightweight, too, at 17.4kg including battery.

While this is a pricey bike, particularly considering there are cheaper bikes with a longer range on this list, the Brompton Electric C-Line is still a great option from a reputable brand.
