DISCLAIMER
This post discusses the fastest electric bikes in the world. However, most e-bikes are NOT allowed on public roads or land as they are not fitted with a speed limiter, as required in most countries. In the UK, Europe, and Australia, this limit is 15.5mph. In the USA, it is 20mph. Learn more about e-bike laws here. The electric bikes discussed in this post can only be used on private land.
If you’re looking for the fastest electric mountain bikes in the world, then you’ve come to the right place. We’ve scoured the globe’s ever-changing mix of fast eMTBs to give you 7 of the fastest models available.
As we’ve already included in our disclaimer above, it should be noted these electric bikes should only be used on private land. Street-legal electric bikes are speed-limited.

What to Consider When Buying a Fast Mountain Electric Bike?
Electric MTB Power & Speed
Although it’s perhaps an oversimplification of things, ultimately the more powerful the motor fitted to an e-bike, the faster it will go. This is why the fastest MTB ebikes have extremely powerful motors.
Charging an Electric Mountain Bike
Like other fast electric bikes, and all electric bikes for that matter, charging a fast electric mountain bike is a simple process. Most e-MTBs can be charged by connecting a cord to the bike directly, or removing the battery and taking it to the plug socket. Be aware charge times can vary dramatically between different models.
Fast e-bike Mountain Range
Unfortunately, the fastest mountain electric bikes, aren’t going to have the greatest range, nor are they going to be cheap to run per mile. Like fast folding electric bikes fast e-bikes are focused on doing just that, going fast.
Are Electric Bikes Good For Mountain Biking?
Arguably electric bikes first caught on in the arena of mountain biking. They enabled riders to spend less time on the uphills and more time enjoying the thrills and spills of downhill riding, or flowing singletrack.
These days, the best electric mountain bikes are hyper-specialized, whether that’s ultra-lightweight machines for long-distance cross-country riding, or uber-powerful beasts for summiting the toughest of gradients.

Coming in at number two on our list of the fastest electric mountain bikes is the Hallomotor FC1. Like all bikes on our list, with eye-watering top speeds, caution should be exercised at all times when riding them.
The FC-1’s top speed is thanks to a massive 5000W motor which is housed in the rear wheel of the bike.
Like most high speed electric bikes, the FC-1 has mountain bike cues in its design with suspension at both the front and rear. Large disc brakes ensure the bike can be brought to a stop from the very high speeds it can manage.
